Some people don't understand why I am such a squealing fangirl over a character who ostensibly has no emotions, only mates every seven years, etc.  Well, here's why: 1. Spock is a good guy.  He always thinks about the greatest good for the greatest number.  He is always honest.  His loyalty to Kirk and to the Enterprise never wavers.  He is a pacifist.  He is even a vegetarian. 2. Dear anyone who cares, I think that the creators of Star Trek made a mistake when they created the universal translator.  The idea of a universal translator bugs the hell out of me. First, let's establish that I am not complaining about science.  I know that there is almost no good science in Star Trek, and I am okay with that.  I don't care how the universal translator would work.  I am willing to accept that all of the technology in Star Trek runs on magic.
